With legislation changing in Illinois and many other areas of the US, it has led to a major increase in sports betting across the key events on the calendar. Royal Ascot is a prime example of this, with online horse betting in Illinois set to be very busy all week, on what is one of the biggest events in horse racing, with many US horses travelling over to the UK to take their chances. So, as we move into the event, here are two horses to follow, who will be expected to go close to landing the odds and are worth keeping onside.
Lord North – Prince of Wales's Stakes
At present he is the general second favourite behind Love, who continues to come in for support in the run-up to the race. He was a very impressive winner of the race last season, when showing a stunning turn of foot, to win by just under four lengths. He then followed this up with three defeats, before another impressive victory in a Group One at Meydan. It is clear the horse loves fast ground, and it brings out the best of him with his turn of foot. With the ground expected to be the same, he looks a strong contender and is likely to take all the beating.
Stradivarius – Ascot Gold Cup
Now a shade of odds-on, he is surely going to take the world of beating based on his record in this race and his overall form heading into the contest. It is the horse's date with destiny, as he goes in search of a remarkable fourth victory in succession in this race and if he can bring in similar form to last season's performance, then he is surely going to win the race. Stradivarius has also returned this season with an eye catching victory at the track back in April and is now surely primed for the race, with the ground also set to be in his favour.
